A Cricket Adventure!

Make sure you’re kwik down to Garons Park next month - they’re hosting an under 11 cricket tournament courtesy of Adventure Island.

The brand new attraction at this year's Essex Ford Southend Cricket Festival is a tournament for local junior teams, and will be played over four of the five days of the Festival, which runs from Wednesday 8 th to Sunday 12th August.

Eight junior teams from local clubs in South East Essex have already accepted the challenge, which has been generously sponsored by Adventure Island, the Southend seafront fun park.

The six-a-side matches will be played on the Garons Park outfield at lunchtimes on the first three days of the Festival, with the final showdown at midday on Sunday.

Winners will receive medals provided by the Essex and Southend Sports Trust.
Peter Butler, Festival Chairman, says: "We want everyone going to Southend for the festival to have a big day out full of action and fun.

“We’re very grateful to Phillip Miller and everyone at Adventure Island for sponsoring this tournament, which will add to the enjoyment of everyone attending the 2007 Essex Ford Southend Cricket festival.”

The eight clubs taking part so far are Southend, Hadleigh and Thundersley, Westcliff, Leigh, Old Southendians, Eastwood, Rayleigh and EMT (Echo, Monarchs, Trojans).

For more information please log on to www.southendcricketfestival.org.uk . There are special discounts for those buying tickets early. Tickets are also available from the Cliffs Pavilion box office on 01702 351135 or online at www.thecliffspavilion.co.uk .
The discounts won’t be available on the gate. Advance ticket purchasers are protected by Essex Rain Check policy in the event of bad weather.

Notes to journalists:

The link with Adventure Island is very fitting, as everyone is talking about its sensational new roller coaster 'Rage', which features a 75 foot vertical climb and is the biggest new roller coaster to be built in the UK this year.
It is just one of over 40 rides and attractions at the fun park. All day wrist bands are half price after 6pm which works really well for those who go down to the seafront after cricket close of play. Further information is available from
www.adventureisland.co.uk or by calling 01702 443400.
